Thunder guard Josh Giddey admits first time playing against one player left him starstruck

Oklahoma City Thunder guard Josh Giddey capped an impressive rookie season with an even more impressive sophomore campaign. He's also emerged as a top talent for Australia at the 2023 FIBA World Cup while playing against the best players from various countries around the world.

While Giddey made the transition to the NBA without much of a hiccup through his first two seasons, he did admit there was one moment where he found himself a bit starstruck. During an interview with NBA.com, the Thunder guard revealed that facing Giannis Antetokounmpo was the first NBA star who left him starstruck.

After saying that the first time he stepped on an NBA court left him a bit starstruck, he revealed that playing against Giannis was a marquee moment.

"I would say Giannis, that was like the first NBA star I played against, but probably the first time that happened to me ... It's different watching on TV than actually being right next to the guy," Giddey told NBA.com.

Here's a look at the full video:

Giddey wrapped up his sophomore campaign with averages of 16.6 points, 7.9 rebounds and 6.2 assists while shooting 48.2 percent from the field and 32.5 percent from three-point range. His shooting percentages were improved across the board, and Giddey also played in 76 of the team's regular-season games.
