New York Giants Projected to Add 3,900-Yard Championship Winning QB

The New York Giants passed up the opportunity to select a quarterback in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft, instead landing playmaking wide receiver Malik Nabers, but, Daniel Jones still faces a murky future in the Big Apple.

Given the fact that neither general manager Joe Schoen nor head coach Brian Daboll were in the Giants’ organization when New York chose Jones with the No. 6 overall pick in the 2019 draft and the fact that Jones has led just one trip to the postseason, the 2024 campaign may prove to be a make-or-break season for Jones.

Depending on how the upcoming season plays out, the Giants could be in prime position to select Jones’ replacement in the 2025 NFL Draft.

Potential New York Giants NFL Draft QB Target Revealed

If the New York Giants fail to reach the playoffs, and especially if Jones falters, Schoen and Daboll could prioritize coming away from next spring’s draft with their handpicked quarterback in tow.

That’s exactly the scenario that plays out in Pro Football Focus’ “way-too-early” 2025 NFL Mock Draft projection, with the Giants taking Georgia QB Carson Beck with the No. 5 overall pick.

“The first quarterback comes off the board,” Max Chadwick and Dalton Wasserman write for PFF.” Beck’s 91.5 grade in 2023 ranked fourth among college football quarterbacks. He plays with precise timing and accuracy and could be New York’s quarterback of the future with Daniel Jones seemingly on his last legs there.”

Beck won a pair of College Football Playoff National Championship rings as a member of the Bulldogs, and is entering his second season as Georgia’s starter.

Last season, Beck passed for 3,941 yards with 24 touchdowns to just six interceptions, showing that he can play at a high level.

If Jones doesn’t maximize the talent around him at receiver this season, Beck could potentially be the Giants’ next franchise quarterback of the future.
